The route of the first two stages of the Historical Way will be changed

Due to the construction of themega solar park in Cercal do Alentejo, which includes the construction of high-voltage power lines, the Rota Vicentina is making changes to the original route of the Historical Way.
But why change the original route of the Historical Way?
The HVPL associated with the Cercal do Alentejo Photovoltaic Plant overlaps with the Great Route of the Historical Path (GR11-E9) in the sections of Santiago do Cacém » Vale Seco and Vale Seco » Cercal do Alentejo, as shown on Map 1.
This overlap makes the current route unviable due to its essentially landscape impact. After all, hikers seek out Rota Vicentina to connect with nature, not with this type of industrial infrastructure!
The diversion of the two sections of the Historical Way requires the following work:
Phase 1 – Survey and definition of the route;
Phase 2 – Implementation of the route on the ground;
Phase 3 – Update of physical and digital materials.
Where are we at now?
In phase 1. That is, before any analysis of possible solutions, it was important to analyze the existing infrastructure on the field, in addition to the HPVL to be constructed, namely the other hiking and cycling trails, as well as existing HPVL (see map 2).
The first proposed route results from this evaluation of existing paths and road network.
After an evaluation of the possibilities through maps and field trips, a proposal was made for both stages affected by the HVPL (see map 3).
In technical terms, the two sections will have the following characteristics:
Santiago do Cacém » Vale Seco (CH01)
Vale Seco » Cercal do Alentejo (CH02)
