Bridge over the Seixe stream reconstructed

1 minutos de leitura

More than a bridge, a sign of resilience.

The beginning of August 2023 will forever be etched in the memory of Rota Vicentina and the local community. Two devastating fires struck the region, affecting the Walking and Cycling Trails of Rota Vicentina in Alentejo and Algarve. One significant damage was the partial destruction of the bridge over the Seixe Stream, an infrastructure of the Historical Way, connecting the two regions.
In September 2024, the bridge was reconstructed by the Algarve Tourism Region and the Regional Tourism Entity of Alentejo, with financial support from Tourism of Portugal.
The completion of this work was a crucial step for hikers to travel safely and peacefully along the Historical Way, as originally designed. We share some images of the reconstruction process of this bridge.
